Formed in 1998, the Home Builders Association of Livingston County Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit 501-C-3 organization. It is the charitable arm of the Home Builders Association of Livingston County.
The mission of the HBALC Foundation is:
Providing training and education for students pursuing a careerin the building industry, as well as assisting in community service programs focusing on special housing needs.
The HBALC Foundation is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Its members serve a one year term of office. They evaluate and determine how the organization’s funds will be disbursed each year. It is the Foundation’s policy to disburse a minimum of 80% of all funds received in a calendar year. The remaining 20% is used for administrative purposes, such as financial and legal fees, insurance and rent. However, if a donation is made with a special designation to a particular cause, 100% of that donation is disbursed, as per the donor’s instructions. From 1998 through 2003, the HBALC Foundation has disbursed over $100,000 to local area charities and educational entities, including Habitat for Humanity Livingston County, LACASA (local abuse shelter), United Way, and the Livingston MTEC (Michigan Technical Education Center).
The Foundation encourages careers in the building trades by providing scholarships to eligible students. Click on the scholarship link to get more information about the funds available.
The Foundation also contributes to worthy housing-related charities in and around Livingston County. Click on fund raisers/donations to learn more about the organizations which benefit from the HBALC Foundation.
